A GUIDELINE FOR INSTALLING SPC PRODUCTS IN A RESILIENT MANNER
In order to properly acclimate products, they must spend a minimum of 12 to 24 hours in the room where they will be installed. A controlled environment must be maintained in the room. Make sure cartons are stacked no more than five cartons high. They should be lying flat, not on their ends or sides. Air should be allowed to circulate between boxes and flooring should not be stored in direct sunlight.
Temperature-controlled environments should be used to install resilient flooring (60-85 degrees Fahrenheit). In order to ensure a successful installation, a constant temperature is needed before, during, and after the operation.
Make sure that the flooring planks are stored, transported, and handled in a way that prevents distortions. Keeping cartons flat is always better than keeping them on the edges. If you plan to install the flooring planks, ensure they are lying flat.
In residential and light commercial applications, floating installation is most commonly used, while glue-down installation is commonly used in commercial applications with heavy rolling loads. Regardless of which case is chosen, the planks should be installed with an expansion gap from all vertical surfaces, such as walls, cabinet doors, pipes, etc. Whenever possible, siliconized or acrylic caulk should be used to seal gaps in bathrooms and other wet environments. Molding or a wall base/baseboard can then be used to hide the gap, which should not be installed through the floor or nailed through it. It is not recommended to install base cabinets over planks or floor coverings that are installed in a floating floor application.
